These lazy skillet stuffed shells are like the stuffed shells only “unstuffed,” which is where it gets the lazy title. A fast dinner (literally can be done under 20 minutes) and very kid friendly–“my kids said it was so good”.You still get a little cheese in almost every bite as a ricotta cheese mixture is dolloped right over the cooked shells. No sautéing and everything is layered in a skillet and broiled over low heat until melty and hot. Ingredients for skillet stuffed pasta:

  • 2 1/2 cups medium shells (about half a box)
  • 1 1/4 cup any pasta sauce (about half a 24 oz jar)
  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 slices provolone cheese

How to make Lazy skillet stuffed shells:

1. Cook pasta according to the package instructions; drain.

2. Mix together the ricotta cheese, parmesan cheese and egg; set aside.

3. In an oven safe skillet or baking dish place 1 cup of pasta sauce onto the bottom and top with pasta.

4. Then make a few dollops from the remaining 1/4 cup of sauce and dollop the ricotta cheese mixture. Top with provolone cheese (I cut mine out with a kiddie cup to match the dollops) and broil under low heat until cheeses melt and heated through (about 10 minutes.)
