General Tso's Chicken

General tso's chicken is a popular Chinese selection recognized for it's glossy coating and sweet and somewhat spicy flavors. This recipe is SO EASY and simple to make with no complicating steps or ingredients!


  • 2 large chicken breasts cut into 1 inch chunks (2 lbs)
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 tsp red chili flakes
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup oil for frying
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch for breading


  • Toss the chicken with the cornstarch and set aside.
  • Heat a large skillet over med-hi heat and add oil.
  • In a small bowl whisk together the ketchup, soy sauce, vinegar, pepper flakes and sugar. Set aside.
  • Fry chicken pieces until done. Pour in the sauce and boil over high heat for 30 seconds stirring to coat chicken pieces. Transfer to a serving dish.


Rice vinegar can be used for the apple cider vinegar.
