1/2cupall-purpose flour
16ozwhite button mushroomssliced
1carrot grated
1large onionchopped
5Tbsp unsalted butter
4cupswater
2mushroom stock cubes
3Tbsp sour cream
1tsp salt
Instructions
How to make Brown Mushroom Gravy
In a large non-stick skillet toast dry flour for 5 minutes over high heat stirring constantly. Remove and wipe clean skillet.
Add the mushrooms, carrot, onion and butter and sauté over medium high heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally until caramelized.
Mix in the reserved flour until well incorporated and stir in the water, stock cubes, salt and sour cream. Simmer 8 minutes until creamy or to desired consistency.
Notes
**Can substitute 2 heaping teaspoons of other flavored broth for the mushroom stock cubes.
