Cultured Milk Recipes

We only consume raw milk here at the farmhouse. When you have fresh dairy you can make all kinds of dairy products, including butter, homemade yogurt and cheese, sour cream, and different kinds of cheese. When we have milk kefir going we make unlimited amounts of fruit smoothies. My favorite cultured milk products is this Homemade Velveeta Cheese, Farmer’s Cheese, mozzarella cheese, and cottage cheese.

Fermenting milk, also known as cultured dairy, is a great way to increase the shelf life of milk while enhancing its flavor. It’s easier to digest and can create many different flavors and characteristics depending on what you like. Using raw milk also enables you to gather the cream off the top and experiment with making cream cheese. Raw heavy cream is excellent for making homemade sour cream and if you prefer not heating the curds, you must try our No-Cook Kefir Cream Cheese Recipe. Check out all of our cultured dairy recipes in this section!
