Fall Recipes

When I think of fall recipes I think of zucchini and pumpkin flavored desserts, soups made from hearty root vegetables, apple-picking, comforting casseroles, and anything to warm up from the cool crisp mornings. Fall is also the time for canning ketchup, and making canned grape juice! It’s also the season for lots of Holiday planning, like the Thanksgiving Turkey and homemade cranberry sauce. Many folks crank up the oven for homemade cinnamon rolls and breads. The Super Bowl falls into these cooler months so lots of appetizers, dips, and sandwiches seem to be trending more.

Every fall our neighbors pear tree produces an abundance of pears. Fall is the time to make pear jelly, pear apple fie filling, and cook with winter squash. Greens like kale and collard greens can still be picked from the garden after the fall’s first frost. So, roasting is more common along with canning projects that need to be finished up. Pomegranates are another fall speciality for salads and cake decorations. There are so many fall recipes to make to embrace the cooler season and make cozy meals!
