Summer Recipes
Eating seasonally is more exciting in the summer! That’s because the freshly picked produce is more abundant and nutritious! Summer is the season for heirloom tomatoes (for burgers or fresh salsa), beets (salads), baby potatoes (sides), green beans, berries sweeter than sugar (dessert), and herbs and flowers!
That’s not to say summer isn’t full of all kinds of Artisan breads, oils, and relishes! In fact many of my canning projects happen in the summer as a way to preserve the harvest, for those recipes check out my Condiments and Sauces. That being said, we love to eat sandwiches during the hot summer days from our homemade breads, seafood, tacos, fresh salads made from freshly picked lettuce from our garden and various grilled meats. Summer meals should be light and refreshing! Try our Venison burgers made from wild game, delicious salads, and some more of our grilling favorites! Eating seasonally and as close to the source as possible, is a better way to get to know your food and your farming community. It’s sustainable and makes more sense.
