Chick Fil A Sauce

You’re wondering how to make a Chick Fil A Sauce recipe and I totally get why, the dipping sauce is so good Chick Fil A, sells them by the bottle now!

Although the sauce is bbq based like the Polynesian sauce, the classic Chick Fil A Sauce is a mayonnaise and bbq based sauce that’s sweet and tangy from the yellow mustard. Chick fil a, Polynesian sauce is a mixture of BBQ sauce and sweet and sour sauce.

How To Make Chick Fil A Sauce:

This Chick Fil A Sauce recipe was recreated by combining mayonnaise, BBQ sauce, and yellow mustard. If you’ve ever made homemade bbq sauce most recipes already use honey and vinegar to make a tart and sweet sauce. The addition of honey is not necessary unless you find your bbq sauce too tart.

And if you’ve ever analyzed the Restaurants square packet ingredients you won’t find honey as an ingredient. However, Chick fil a, does claim their classic dipping sauce has notes of honey mustard and a smoky tang, so if you want to use honey mustard or honey-flavored BBQ sauce then go for it.

After observing the ingredient list, I then realized most of the ingredients were found in 3 major sauces: mayo, bbq sauce, and yellow mustard. The three condiments create a dipping sauce just like the Chick-fil-a sauce!

Honey Roasted BBQ Sauce vs Chick Fil A Sauce

The Chick Fil A Menu serves a collection of dipping sauces, and the sauce closest to the Chick Fil A Sauce is the Chick Fil A Honey Roasted BBQ Sauce. Don’t get confused with these two sauces, they are very similar only the Honey Roasted BBQ Sauce is smokier and was specifically designed for the Grilled Chicken Sandwich off their menu.

Both Dipping sauces are sweet, smokey, and tangy, only the Chick-Fil-A Sauce has more notes of mustard and is slightly lighter in color.

Q&A

What Is Chick Fil A Sauce?

The Chick Fil A Sauce is a sweet and smokey dipping sauce with notes of mustard. The creamy sauce is best with waffle potato fries, chicken minis, nuggets, wraps, tenders, and chicken sandwiches.

Chick Fil A Sauce Ingredients?

The ingredients for this sauce are very simple. Since most condiments are plenty seasoned this makes whipping up your-own-Chick-fil-a-sauce a breeze! Here is a breakdown of every ingredient that goes into homemade Chick Fil A Sauce:

BBQ Sauce- is what gives the sauce its distinct smokey flavor and its rich orange hue once mixed with mayo!

Yellow Mustard- is the tangy ingredient so skip the lemon juice!

Mayo- is the creamy ingredient to make this sauce come together smoothly and since it already has sugar the sauce doesn’t need any additional sweeteners.

Note: depending on how tart your BBQ sauce you may not need to add additional sugar. Chick Fil A Sauce is very sweet, so adjust accordingly.

What To Serve With Chick-Fil-A Sauce?

The classic Sauce is best with savory food like;

  • Chick Fil A Sandwich
  • Fries
  • Chicken minis
  • Grilled nuggets
  • Wraps
  • Tenders
  • Salads

What Kind Of BBQ Sauce Do You Use?

When I first tested with this sauce I used Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce. However, now I make my own BBQ sauce but any Original BBQ Sauce should work fine.

Storing Chick Fil A Sauce:

The refrigerated shelf life for this sauce is up to 3 months if you keep it covered and refrigerated properly. Leaving the sauce out long to sit can discolor and turn the surface dark brown. I recommend a squeezable bottle for longer-term usage.

If the sauce has sat out for long periods of time, it is best within a week.

Best Tips:

  • Level and measure out all ingredients. Adding a heaping cup can make a huge difference!
  • Substitute honey mustard for a sweeter sauce.
  • Depending on how tart your BBQ Sauce is, add additional sweeteners like sugar, agave, maple syrup, or honey.
  • Keep the sauce, covered as it turns darker the longer it sits out.
