Complete a bowl of chili with this EASY, Semi-sweet Cornbread recipe. This fluffy cornbread recipe calls for BASIC ingredients, so you may just have everything on hand. 

When I make chili I like to have cornbread compliment the hearty dish. If your curious to know what kind of Chili I like to make you can view that post by clicking the red link. I prefer a semi-sweet cornbread that isn’t too sweet but if you like it sweeter by all means double the sugar. This has been my go-to cornbread recipe for some time now and I really don’t see a need to look for another, as I’m quite satisfied with the outcome. Compliment a hearty stew, chili, or just slather butter over a hot slice and enjoy!

 

Ingredients for Fluffy Cornbread Recipe:

  • 3/4 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup canola oil

Directions to make Fluffy Cornbread Recipe:

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

2. Place all the dry ingredients into a bowl. Make a well in the center and add in the wet ingredients. Whisk together and pour into a greased 8X8 dish.

3. Bake 22-25 minutes or until nicely browned. Serve.
