This homemade Hawaiian pizza is made over a buttery thin crust pizza dough and even if you’re not a pineapple pizza fan this pizza dough recipe is one to try!

Though my crusty pizza dough recipe is my favorite it’s nice to rotate from the usual once in a while and one pizza dough recipe doesn’t necessarily fit all toppings. Hawaiian pizza is usually made with ham, pineapple, and bacon pieces over a red sauce and I think the thinner crust really compliments this pizza. A pepperoni style pizza can work for this crust too and perhaps even a calzone. Leave a comment below to share your pizza creations!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 1/3 cups warm water
  • 2 TBSP sugar
  • 1 tsp dry yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 sticks unsalted butter, cold
  • 4 cups flour

TOPPINGS:

  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 2 1/2 cups shredded cheese (I like a mixture of Velveeta Mozzarella shreds and part-skim shredded mozzarella)
  • 15 thinly sliced black forest ham slices, chopped
  • 4 slices of cooked bacon, chopped
  • 1/2 (20oz) can of crushed pineapple chunks, drained

DIRECTIONS:

1. In a large measuring cup combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast and allow to poof 5 minutes.

2. Stir together the salt, garlic powder, and flour in a large bowl. Shred (or cut) the butter into the flour and stir in the yeast mixture. Form the dough and knead for 4 minutes. Let dough rest in a warm place for 30 minutes.

3. Divide the dough into 3 equal pieces to make 3 medium-sized pizza’s or leave whole to make one XL pizza. Roll pieces out to 12″ circles or roll out one XL large pizza. Place into well-greased baking pans; top with toppings in the order given and bake at 500° F for 8-10 minutes.

NOTE: If making 3 medium pizzas, evenly divide the toppings onto all three pizzas.
