I copycat a lot of Restaurant Sauces! Some of my favorites are the original Chick-fil-A Sauce, Zaxby’s Honey Mustard Sauce, and the Subway Chipotle Southwest Sauce!
The best part about making homemade sauces is that you can use Homemade Mayonnaise or Canned BBQ Sauce as the base, free from preservatives! My mayonnaise and BBQ sauce recipes are perfect dupes for the Hellman’s and store-bought BBQ Sauce! Avoid using specialty flavored mayos or BBQ sauce from the store; instead, use the Classic versions so that the flavor doesn’t change.
What is Honey Roasted BBQ Sauce?
You might be wondering what the difference is between Chick-fil-A sauce and Honey Roasted BBQ. After all, they’re both very similar at the Chick-fil-A Restaurant! The main difference between the two is that honey-roasted BBQ is darker and smokier in flavor than the original dipping sauce. Whereas Chick-fil-A sauce is sweet, has more notes of mustard, and doesn’t contain honey.
Now that we know the difference, it’s time to make this sauce for dipping your French fries, sandwiches, and chicken nuggets. Either sauce can be interchangeable, but I do prefer the less sweet honey-roasted BBQ sauce. This honey mustard sauce goes perfectly with crispy chicken or over anything grilled! Its creamy, tangy, and sweet notes of honey make it incredibly delicious!
Ingredients:
- Mayonnaise
- Yellow Mustard
- Honey
- BBQ sauce
- Sugar to balance out the bold flavors
How To Make Chick-fil-A Honey Roasted BBQ Sauce:
Make this sauce at home with five basic ingredients! You literally whisk all the ingredients together in a small bowl and serve immediately or store in the fridge until needed. This sauce will last up to a month easily!
Storing Homemade Chick-fil-A Honey Roasted BBQ Sauce:
The best way to keep your sauce fresh is to store it in an airtight squeeze bottle. Keep it in the refrigerator for up to one month and give it a good shake before serving.
Q&A
Is Chick-fil-A Honey Roasted BBQ Sauce Gluten-Free?
Yes, this sauce is gluten-free, just be sure to check the bottle of your BBQ sauce to ensure it doesn’t have any gluten.
Tips:
- Don’t use Miracle Whip or salad dressing; those tend to be sweeter than regular mayonnaise.
- If you will be using store-bought sauces as the base, then use Hellman’s mayo and Sweet Baby Rays or Aldi Texas-style BBQ sauce.
- Store the sauce in a squeeze bottle for optimal freshness.
- I either use the French’s prepared yellow mustard or the Aldi brand.
- You can use organic cane sugar as a healthier option.
- Lightly grease the measuring spoon when measuring the honey so that it comes off more easily.
