Creamy Jalapeño Sauce is that delicious quesadilla sauce Taco Bell uses in chicken quesadillas! Top this over your next taco party or Mexican dinner and are you in for a copycat treat!

Unfortunately my first attempts in making the creamy jalapeño sauce weren’t satisfying. I wanted to simplify the recipe and of coarse get it to taste more like the real Creamy Jalapeño sauce from Taco bell. I did more thinking and got down to testing the flavors step-by-step of the way with the real sauce right by my side. So, I created a new recipe that turned out to be a complete success!

How I Made Taco Bell’s Quesadilla Sauce:

Comparing the ingredients label off a bottle of ranch and the ingredients from Taco Bell’s Creamy jalapeño sauce, I realized almost all the ingredients in a bottle of ranch were found in the creamy jalapeño sauce! I decided to add more spices to intensify the ranch flavor as I wasn’t getting the results I wanted. After much testing and finally the addition of cumin, I was HAPPY! I even called my husband from the excitement! Search no more folks! This has got to be the closet copycat to the creamy Jalapeño Sauce from TACO BELL! I make this at our home as a staple sauce, especially when we’re having tacos or taco salad for dinner! And the sauce only gets better after sitting! I wan’t to hear your feedback!

This is AWESOME! I just made a sausage Crunchwrap at home and it tastes so much like Taco Bell’s because of this delicious sauce. Can’t thank you enough!

I’m so glad to hear that, Nikki!

I am obsessed with Taco Bell’s chicken quesadilla and unfortunately (or maybe fortunately lol) where I live in Canada it is about a 35-40 minute drive to the nearest Taco Bell. I tried this recipe yesterday and I would like to report that you hit the nail on the head. I am so astounded at how similar it tastes. Mine came out a bit more spicy because I did use some extra pickled jalapeños. I would strongly recommend to use picked jalapeños, it adds a great acidity and flavour to the sauce. Thank you so much for your top notch recipe, I will continue to make this moving forward!

I am going to make this tonight and was wondering what I could use to replace the sriracha since i dont have any at the moment?

      • Alyona’s Cooking

Hi Emily, you can skip the sriracha, last time I made it I actually forgot to add it and it still turned out good. I would add a little bit more cumin to compensate overall taste but not necessary.

Excellent recipe. In my opinion this is as close as anyone can get to the real thing. I followed the recipe exact and it is so close to the Taco Bell creamy jalapeño sauce. We are all loving our home made steak quesadillas with home made creamy jalapeño sauce!!!! Thanks Alyona.

I am obsessed with Taco Bell (like really stupidly obsessed), but I don’t want to eat it all the time (money, health…), and I was SO excited to find this recipe. I made it without the cocoa powder because I didn’t have any, used a whole jalapeño because it was small, and used onion and garlic powder (not salt, used 1/4 tsp and then added additional salt). Let me tell you: it was DELICIOUS! I used it on homemade cheese quesadillas and it was SO CLOSE to the Taco Bell one. Thank you!

I’m so glad to hear, Lily! Wait until the sauce sits some it gets even better! It’s good to know regular onion and garlic powder work as good as the salted versions! Good thinking!
